SANHA NiroSan: stainless steel press system – 15 to 168.3 mm

NiroSan is Sanha's stainless steel press system and the system with the largest size range we carry: press fittings in 1.4404, pipes in 1.4404 or 1.4521, EPDM sealing ring, 15 to 168.3 mm – up to 54 mm pressable with the profiles SA, V and M, above that with press ring and press loop. Drinking water, heating, compressed air, fire-fighting water, sprinklers, technical gases and cooling water belong to the field of application; NiroSan Gas and NiroSan Industry cover fuel gases and high temperature. This page explains pipe, sizes, availability, variants, media, tools and how it differs from Viega Sanpress Inox.

What NiroSan is meant for

NiroSan is a universal system: Sanha names drinking water, heating, compressed air (residual oil max. 25 mg/m³), fire-fighting installations wet to DIN 14462, sprinklers wet to VdS, technical gases, cooling water and glycols, plus shipbuilding. The material 1.4404 (316L) with its higher molybdenum content is more resistant to pitting than 1.4401 – an argument in chloride-containing waters and damp surroundings. Fuel gases go only with NiroSan Gas; saturated steam, district heating, oils and solar only with NiroSan Industry with FKM.

What makes NiroSan special in our range is the series up to 168.3 mm (DN 150): risers and distributors in commercial buildings can be pressed with it where the Viega metal systems end at 108 mm.

How the joint works: profiles, UVUD, Push & Stay

NiroSan fittings up to 54 mm can be pressed with three profiles – SA, V and M (Sanha calls this combipress): whoever owns a press machine with V or M jaws can process NiroSan without new tools. From 76.1 mm SA or M with press ring applies; 139.7 and 168.3 mm are pressed with press loop M. The factory-fitted EPDM sealing ring is visibly leaking during the pressure test as long as it has not been pressed (UVUD, leaks when unpressed) – Sanha's counterpart to the SC-Contur. Push & Stay holds the inserted pipe in the fitting before pressing, so that it does not slip out while aligning.

Same profile means same tool, not same system: a NiroSan fitting is pressed with a V jaw, but not combined with a Viega connector – the approval applies per system.

Pipe, sizes and availability

NiroSan pipes come in four executions: 1.4404 (standard), NiroSan ECO in ferritic 1.4521 (nickel-free, more economical), NiroSan F and NiroSan SF (silicone-free). All are approved to DVGW GW 541. The table shows the sizes and the availability: 15 to 54 mm and 108 mm in stock, 76.1, 88.9 and 168.3 mm to order.

NiroSan, NiroSan Gas and NiroSan Industry

  • NiroSan (EPDM black): water, aqueous solutions, technical gases; 16 bar, −30 to +120 °C; 15–168.3 mm.
  • NiroSan Gas (HNBR yellow, series 17000): fuel gases to DVGW G 260 with 5 bar, −20 to +70 °C (GT/PN 1 and GT/PN 5, DVGW G 5614, TRGI, TRF); technical gases and hydrogen 16 bar, −30 to +100 °C, H2ready up to 100 % hydrogen; 15–108 mm. Available on request.
  • NiroSan Industry (FKM red, marking HT, series 18000; silicone-free as SF, series 19000): 16 bar, −20 to +160 °C depending on the medium – saturated steam, district heating, heating oil, solar, compressed air with oil, sprinkler dry (VdS); 15–108 mm. Available on request.

The variants share pipe and profile; they are separated by colour code and marking. For applications within the scope of code of practice G 260 flat gaskets are not permitted with NiroSan Gas (catalogue note).

Which medium with which sealing element

Assignment after the SANHA product catalogue 2026 and the NiroSan brochure 08/2026. For most media Sanha names system values (16 bar, temperature range per sealing ring) – in the system finder they are marked as system values; pressures above 16 bar on request.

Transitions: thread, flange, other systems

Sanha offers transitions with female and male thread to EN 10226-1, loose and fixed flanges to EN 1092-1 and transition fittings; via thread or flange NiroSan connects to copper, multilayer and steel pipe systems. At the transition to galvanised steel use an insulating union and observe the flow rule (mixed installation).

NiroSan or Viega Sanpress Inox?

Both are all-stainless systems with drinking water approval, both we carry from stock. The differences: NiroSan reaches up to 168.3 mm (Sanpress Inox up to 108), NiroSan fittings are 1.4404 (Sanpress Inox 1.4401), NiroSan can be pressed up to 54 mm with V or M jaws of other manufacturers, Sanpress Inox only with Viega tools. In practice the installer's existing tools and the size often decide – and the rule from our experience: one system per project, with several the same profile (see From our practice).

Installation in brief

  • Cut the pipe with a pipe cutter, deburr outside and inside; mark the insertion depth.
  • Push the fitting on (Push & Stay holds it), press jaw SA, V or M up to 54 mm; from 76.1 mm press ring, 139.7/168.3 mm press loop M.
  • Leak test wet or dry; unpressed fittings show up during the pressure test.
  • Fixed and sliding points, clamps with insert; avoid temper colours from welding work nearby.

Frequently asked questions about SANHA NiroSan

Can I press NiroSan with my Viega press machine?

Up to 54 mm yes, if the machine is equipped with V or M press jaws (NiroSan is approved for the profiles SA, V and M). From 76.1 mm Sanha press rings SA or M are required, for 139.7 and 168.3 mm the press loop M. The approval of the jaw per size is given in the Sanha catalogue.

What is NiroSan ECO?

The NiroSan pipe in ferritic 1.4521: nickel-free, more economical than 1.4404, approved for drinking water to DVGW GW 541; the fittings remain 1.4404.

Up to how many degrees does NiroSan go?

With EPDM 16 bar from −30 to +120 °C. NiroSan Industry with FKM up to +160 °C depending on the medium, NiroSan Gas with HNBR up to +70 °C (fuel gas) or +100 °C (technical gases, hydrogen).

Is NiroSan suitable for hydrogen?

According to Sanha NiroSan Gas is H2ready up to 100 % hydrogen (16 bar, −30 to +100 °C, DVGW G 5614). The standard system with EPDM is not.

How do I recognise a forgotten press operation?

During the pressure test: the EPDM sealing ring is visibly leaking in the unpressed state (UVUD). Pressing afterwards is enough.

Is NiroSan above 108 mm available from stock?

139.7 and 168.3 mm we procure at short notice through Sanha; 108 mm is in stock. For sizes beyond that, flange, grooved coupling or welding are the joint – see joining methods compared.
