Joining without welding

Joining, repairing, transitioning pipe – without welding

The plant is running, the pipe is leaking. The line has to be extended, but welding is prohibited. Two systems meet, and nobody remembers which multilayer pipe is in the wall. For these situations there are fittings that clamp on the pipe instead of welding or pressing – in malleable iron, brass and stainless steel, mounted with standard tools. This page sorts them by the question that comes in: not “do you have Gebo” but “what is broken, what should it become”.

Four ways to the solution

If you do not know which family fits, use the tool “Which solution fits?”: enter pipe type, outside diameter, problem and medium – it names the solutions that meet all four conditions.

Where clamping ends

Compression fittings are resistant to tension and shear and built for permanent use – within the service limits the manufacturer names per medium: cold water up to 16 bar, heating water 80 to 90 °C at 6 bar, gas outside buildings 5 bar, inside only with the HTB version. Steam (except with the FKM seal of GF PRIMOFIT up to 150 °C), solvents, higher temperatures and large nominal sizes in industrial piping remain welding and flanges. Three rules that make every inquiry faster:

What we supply

Gebo compression fittings of types A, I, O, T up to 2 inch, repair clamps DS and MD, EPDM drinking-water seals for retrofitting, gebounifix mini repair bands, Multigebo kits and Minigebo are stock items; GF PRIMOFIT couplings, transitions, tees and the GF repair ranges too. The flange versions from 2 1/2 inch, the gebounifix repair boxes and the remaining series (HTB, brass 313/314, PE series, polygebo, gebounifix middle and maxi, WAGA) we procure on request. The standard names dimensions. What is listed here, we carry – from stock or to order; how fast, we clarify on request.

Frequently asked questions

How do I join or repair a steel pipe without welding?

Choose your situation at the top – leaking pipe, extending a line, joining two systems – and you reach the suitable pipe joint without welding: compression fitting, repair clamp or tapping clamp; dimensions, approvals and installation are on the pages below.

Does a clamped joint hold permanently?

Yes – the manufacturers release their malleable-iron and brass compression fittings for permanent use, resistant to tension and shear, within the service limits per medium. Repair bands on plastic pipe are the exception: short-term only there.

Do I need special tools?

No. Compression fittings are tightened with standard tools (Gebo gives torque guide values in the installation instructions), gebounifix middle and maxi with a ring or open-end spanner, Minigebo and the repair clamps with a hex key. That is the difference from a press system.

May I repair gas with it?

Outside buildings with the series approved for it (DIN 3387-1); inside buildings only with the HTB version – and the work belongs to the licensed installer.

What about multilayer pipe of unknown origin?

Multigebo is built for that: one body per outside diameter, support sleeves per inside diameter, gauge in the kit – without knowing which manufacturer made the pipe.
