Flange dimensions PN 6 to PN 40 to EN 1092-1

Bolt circle K, outside diameter D, raised-face diameter d1, number and diameter of bolt holes n × L, plus pipe outside diameter and bolt size M – in separate tables for each pressure rating from PN 6 to PN 40, covering all nominal sizes from DN 10 to DN 800. All dimensions in millimetres, dimension letters to EN 1092-1.

Schematic drawing of a welding neck flange in front view and section Left: front view with bolt circle K, bolt holes n × L and centre lines to ISO 128. Right: full section with welding end A, wall thickness s, bore B, flange thickness b, raised-face height f, raised-face diameter d1 and outside diameter D. Dimension lines outside the contour. FRONT VIEW SIDE VIEW (SECTION) n × Ø L Ø K (bolt circle (also called bolt circle diameter/BCD or pitch circle diameter/PCD)) Ø A Ø B s b f Ø d₁ Ø D r not to scale
Dimensioned drawing in front view and full section (dimension letters to EN 1092-1): D = outside diameter, K = bolt circle, n × Ø L = number × diameter of bolt holes, b = flange thickness, f = raised-face height, d₁ = raised-face diameter, A = welding end, s = wall thickness, B = bore. Accent colour on bolt circle K. Drawing not to scale.

Bolt-hole diameter L is not the bolt diameter: L is the hole in the flange – the matching bolt is always thinner (clearance for assembly and alignment). Example: 18 mm hole → M16 bolt. The bolt size follows from the standard, not from the hole dimension.

1 Pipe OD = outside diameter of the matching pipe. Depending on the flange type, the flange bore is slightly larger (clearance) or, for welding neck flanges, follows the pipe inside diameter – see the note above.

2 M = metric bolt size to EN 1092-1; the bolt-hole diameter ØL is always larger than the bolt thread.

3 For DN 65 at PN 10 and PN 16, EN 1092-1 specifies 8 bolt holes. Older flanges to the former DIN 2501 have 4 holes here and are still common in existing plants – check the bolt-hole pattern before ordering replacements or extensions.

PN 40 is not standardised for DN 700 and DN 800. For DN 10 to DN 40 the dimensions of PN 10, PN 16 and PN 25 are identical to PN 40; for DN 50 to DN 150 the same applies to PN 10 with PN 16 and to PN 25 with PN 40.

How this data is compiled. This page does not reproduce a standard. It shows the dimensions you need for an enquiry, an order and installation – for sizes we supply, checked against documents from manufacturing works and suppliers and against our own range. Each value states what kind of value it is: specified by the standard, calculated by us or customary in the trade. The currently valid standard is binding. It is available from DIN Media or from your national standards body. How we select our sources and keep them up to date: About this knowledge.

Technical basis: EN 1092-1. All information without guarantee – the current standard texts and the manufacturers' technical data sheets always prevail. Values selected according to our delivery and stock programme; compiled from our own ERP data and long-standing trading practice, cross-checked against publicly available manufacturer information. These tables do not replace the standard – the current edition of the standard always governs.
