Transition finder: which press system fits your existing pipework

How to read the matrix

Rows are the existing pipework, columns the new system. Each cell gives the route and the availability of the parts needed:

• direct – both sides fit without an extra part: the same pipe (solder and press fitting on copper tube EN 1057, Megapress on screwed steel pipe), a standard pair (R male thread into Rp female thread, PN flange to PN flange) or a transition from the same manufacturer.
• adapter – one part from the press system’s range with male thread R, female thread Rp, union G or flange adapter PN.
• via thread – two parts: adapter with male thread on one side, adapter with female thread on the other. The normal case between two press systems from different manufacturers.
• via flange – two flange adapters with the same PN rating and nominal size, gasket in between – from DN 50 often the shorter route.
• clamp connector – on plain pipe without thread and without welding: Gebo on steel pipe, GF iJOINT on PE pipe, outlet thread or flange.
• on request – we do not yet hold manufacturer evidence for this pair, or we source the system specially. Ask us: our sales team clarifies it with the manufacturer.

Availability refers to the parts of the route: from stock (we hold them), to order (delivered from the manufacturer) or on request. Delivery time and available quantity come with our quotation.

Matrix: existing × new

Information without guarantee. We have compiled the system transitions from the manufacturers’ documentation – binding are only the planning and installation documents of the respective manufacturer and its approval for your application. For third-party pipes, drinking water and gas, ask the manufacturer or us before installation.

The documented transitions per system

What stands behind the cells: for each system the transition parts the manufacturer offers and we supply – with model or article series, route and availability. The list is built from our merchandise management and the manufacturers’ documentation – parts without a checked manufacturer reference appear in the matrix as “on request”.

The rules that apply to every transition

A transition is more than a matching thread. The transition finder checks these ten rules for every pair – the matrix gives the codes, this table explains them.

Before the inquiry: three measurements on the existing pipe

1. Measure the outside diameter, do not guess the nominal size – calliper on the pipe (rule of thumb). Screwed pipe 1/2" is 21.3 mm, copper 22 mm, multilayer pipe 20 mm: three worlds, one similar size.
2. Wall thickness and material at the cut or from the marking – this decides the transition group for third-party pipes (rule of thumb).
3. Medium, pressure, temperature of the line – the drinking water, gas and material rules depend on them, and so does the lower rating of two systems (UR-10).
