Which press tool fits which system?

Every system manufacturer states in which press machines its press jaws and press collars may run – usually in a list that is reissued once a year. This tool puts the lists of Geberit, Uponor and Viega side by side: choose a system and see which tools are approved, or choose the maker of your tool and see for which systems it is approved. What press contour and press jaw mean is explained on the page press profiles and tools.

Reproduction of the manufacturers’ lists – no testing of our own. The system manufacturer’s current list is decisive. We name the tools because the lists name them – they are not a source of supply.

How to read the result

  • Application range: as the system manufacturer structures its list – Geberit by tool class (1 compact, 2 standard, 2XL, 3 large diameter, HCP, 4 hydraulic with adapter jaw), Uponor by jaw type (14–32 mm, 40/50 mm, 63–110 mm with modular press collars), Viega by jaw generation (Picco 24 kN, PT2 32 kN).
  • approved: the tool is on the system manufacturer’s list. with restriction: approved, but only as the row says – for example only in Europe, only with press collars up to 54 mm or only from a certain serial number. not approved: the list expressly excludes the tool for this range.
  • Predecessor model: no longer produced but still approved as long as it is serviced. Hidden by default – with the tick “also show predecessor models” it appears with “produced until” and its successor.
  • Sanha: no tool list but the press contour of the jaw (SA, M, V, for 3fit-Press TH) – third-party machines only with the tool maker’s approval.

The system manufacturer’s original press jaws and collars are always decisive. The list only says which machine they may run in – and defects of a third-party tool are the tool maker’s responsibility, not the system manufacturer’s.

Jaw, collar, machine: what the lists mean

The lists speak of press jaws and press collars – the part that encloses the fitting – and of the press machine that applies the force. What is approved is always the combination: the system manufacturer’s original jaw or collar in a machine from its list.

What the tool cannot do

  • It does not replace the system manufacturer’s current list. The lists are renewed every year; the Geberit list shown here is valid until 2027-04-01. Check the current list before buying a tool.
  • Viega keeps its list of third-party tools only in the download area of its website – we do not have it yet. For Viega systems the tool therefore shows Viega’s own machines and the two recommendations of the 2026 catalogue for the PT2 press jaw model 2799.7.
  • The Uponor list does not apply to the gas multilayer system. Geberit lists the Viega Pressguns for Europe only.
  • It says nothing about servicing and inspection intervals of the tool – these are in the tool maker’s operating instructions.

Frequently asked questions on press tools

Which press tool and which jaw fit my fitting?

Choose system and size - the tool names press profile, matching jaws and tool classes; what matters is the profile, not the tool brand.

May I press Geberit Mepla with a Viega machine?

Yes, if the machine is on the Geberit list – the Pressguns 4B to 6 Plus, for example, as standard tools of class 2, with the restriction “Europe only”. Pressing is always done with the original Geberit press jaw, not with a Viega jaw.

Why is a tool marked “not approved” for one jaw type?

Because the pressing force or the jaw holder does not match. With Uponor, the large jaws 63–110 mm run in only a few machines – most tools are approved for 14–32 mm, many also for 40/50 mm.

Does the approval apply to every year of manufacture?

For predecessor models it continues to apply as long as the tool is serviced. Where a manufacturer sets a limit, it is in the row – for example “compatible from serial number 6000”.

Technical basis: Geberit, technical information “Compatible press tools” (April 2026, valid until 2027-04-01); Uponor, technical information on the multilayer pipe system (02/2024, recommendation list of press jaws and external press tools); Viega catalogue 2026; Sanha catalogue 2026 (combipress) – authorised dealer material, use approved. Reproduction of the manufacturer lists without testing of our own; the manufacturers’ current lists and operating instructions are decisive.
