Torispherical head calculator: height, capacity and weight for any size

Enter the outside diameter and wall thickness – the calculator gives the heights, capacity, surface areas, blank diameter and weight of a torispherical head to DIN 28011. With a cylinder length it calculates the whole vessel made of two heads and a shell.

Calculate the torispherical head

This tool needs JavaScript. Without scripts we will gladly calculate it for you: service@zickwolff.de.

How it is calculated

The calculator uses the approximation equations that DIN 28011 gives for torispherical heads (section 3.1): crown radius equal to the outside diameter, knuckle radius a tenth of it, plus the straight flange. Without your own straight flange it takes the default value for the wall thickness entered. Weight and blank diameter are approximations – the weight applies with 7.85 kg/dm³ for steel and 8.0 kg/dm³ for stainless steel.

For the sizes in our dimension table, dimensions, tolerances and the dimensional drawing are on the page Torispherical head DIN 28011. What distinguishes torispherical and semi-ellipsoidal heads from caps is explained under Dished heads and caps.
